Cisco Network Insights for Resources Application Overview

The NIR is an application wherein users can monitor and analyze data in real-time. It specializes in identifying anomalies in Day-2 Network Operations Use Cases and:

  • supplies drill solutions to certain issues
  • automates troubleshooting processes
  • provides root-cause analysis
  • allows capacity planning
  • helps in remediation

What It Does

The Network Insights for Resources Application functionality gives you critical data to assist you in your decision making and troubleshooting processes. Its data collection procedure allows users to oversee the resources available, along with their configurations and active processes in the Cisco Application Policy infrastructure Controller (APIC). It also functions on the Cisco NX-OS/DCNM.

NIR Components

The NIR is a robust tool that has multiple parts working together to deliver higher quality data and analysis.

1

Data Collection

Hardware and software components in the fabric devices store readily available data for easy recovery. Then, telemetry data is streamed and processed in the analytics pipeline before it is eventually kept in a data lake ready for retrieval and use.

The accumulated telemetry information can be classified into:

Resources Analytics

The analytics monitors hardware and software resources to maintain them at optimal levels. This includes the memory, BD, CPU, EPG, and VRF.

Flow Analytics

This tracks the fabric switches and the anomalies in their behavior like the flow move indicator throughout the whole ACI, packet drop indicator, and average latency.

Statistics Analytics

This involves the monitoring of protocols on the Cisco APIC, interfaces, nodes, and fabric switches.

Event Analytics

Configuration changes, faults, and other events are tracked and connected to determine the causes of raised faults and troubleshooting ideas.

Environmental

The information encompasses power, temperature, fans, and other external factors.

2

Anomaly Detection

Using various machine learning algorithms to understand each fabric component. Resources that fail to follow the expected pattern are raised as anomalies.

3

Predictive Analytics Correlation

Failures in the fabric and its corresponding internal fabric are predicted and visible to the users.

3

Resource and Environmental Utilization

The operations, configurations, and hardware resources are assisted by resource analytics. The utilization of the environmental factors related to spine switches, leaf switches, and the Cisco APIC are supported

System analytics also include the graphic of parameters, anomalies, and information of each resource. This allows network operators to fix bugs found in devices gradually.
